Part two of the Festive Football preview and it’s a trip to Ilford to face Frenford. As per the White Ensign preview, this one was written before The Bridge played Benfleet (and White Ensign) and before Frenford played at home to Halstead Town on the 21st and West Essex on the 28th.
Frenford are currently in 12th place and have 20 points from their 18 games, 3 more than the Bridge. 6 wins, 2 draws, and 10 defeats have produced 29 goals for and 32 against for a -3 GD. From their 10 home matches, they have 2 wins, 1 draw, and 7 defeats, with a –8 GD (16 for, 24 against) which is not overly impressive, so there’s every reason to hope that The Bridge can get something from this one as well.
Here’s what they have been doing in their last six matches…

They retained the title in 2012–13, also winning the Senior Cup and the Senior Challenge Cup.The club went on to win the Senior Challenge Cup again the following season and the Essex Premier Cup in 2015–16. In 2017 the club dropped Senior from their name, and the 2017–18 season saw them win the league's Senior Cup. Ground
Ahead of the 2019–20 season, Frenford entered a groundsharing agreement at Bowers & Pitsea’s Len Salmon Stadium.[6] The stadium has an artificial pitch, which was added in 2018. The stadium was named in 2000 after loyal club servant of forty years, Len Salmon died. Following the early abandonment of the 2019–20 season, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom, Frenford confirmed the improvement of their existing facilities at the Jack Carter Centre in Ilford.

It’s a bit too early for Essex Senior League graphics and form guides so Match Day is a bit sparse but, needless to say, it would be good to get off to a good start to 2025 with an away win.
2024 was a tough year for The Bridge but with a New Year comes renewed hope and let’s hope 2025 is a good one for The Bridge starting with game 1 of 2025 at Frenford.
It may be a New Year but one thing remains the same at least and as always…
