Alas, Dear Reader, I'm afraid it’s another match summary for this one as another one of my prior commitments stopped me from going to West Essex, East London, Walthamstow or all three!
Maybe I should stay away more often though, as The Bridge secured their second consecutive draw without me watching!
At least this time I’m not missing a description of the goals because there weren't any as The Bridge took part in their first 0-0 of the season. Already missing Connor Hart, the visitors were forced to make two early substitutions, with Jack Hauser replacing Sam Carter after 12 minutes and Jack Unwin on for Billy Willis after 13. West Essex were also forced into an early substitution as Jack Martin made way for Almame Ly Athie.
I can't really tell you much about the game other than it was a similar story for The Bridge who were the better side but couldn’t finish their chances (how I wish we had VEO back!) and that Darnell Williams was yellow-carded In the 35th minute and West Essex number nine, Yemi Adelani was sent to the sin bin in the 38th.
West Essex had won 2-0 at Benfleet during the week preceding the game, so this was not a bad point and it kept The Bridge just above the teams fighting relegation, now just a few points below them. My eye-witness(s) at the game, mentioned the performances of new keeepr Dom Alexandru, centre-back Jack Wilson and early sub Jack Hauser but it was Piers Hatcliff who, once again, took the MOM accolade.
In the second half, Mechack Asuka returned to the side from the bench after missing a few weeks, and the West Essex cause was not helped by captain Mitchell Arthur also being sent to the sin bin.
The Ranger got another outing, coming on in the 91st minute for Oscar Jones but unfortunately, couldn’t find the net this week but, all in all, not a bad point and it keeps us above the bottom two or indeed three. Apologies for the lack of detail, normal service (whatever that is!) will be resumed at Buckhurst Hill, and in the meantime, as always…
Another one for Piers to add to the list, with another top performance…well played mate.
